ALL-STATE NEWS FROM “WOLFFSTEAD”:
We wanted to take this opportunity to invite you all to an All-State preparatory boot camp we are putting together in July. Last year, Connor Lidell and Ms. Winstead had an inaugural trial camp, and it was a success! This year, we're kicking it up a notch, and have consolidated our offerings so we can have a more productive and fun session. Best of all, Ms. Wolff and Ms. Miyake will be joining our team of instructors!
Here are all the details you need to know:
Unlike the 4-5 day university camps that try to pack as much into a few days as possible, our camp is designed to have you audition-ready for the 1st and 2nd Rounds before you even go back to school. We will be primarily focused on the music for District and Region (Rounds 1 and 2), while also touching on some of the music for Pre-Area (Round 3) if we get to it.
Our intensive is geared specifically for students doing All-State for the first or second time. As such, we are primarily focusing on incoming sophomores and juniors. All students, including incoming seniors, are welcome to use this camp either as an alternative or a supplement to a university camp.
We are affordable, local, and focused on YOU!
Dates: July 10 - 14
Times: 1:00pm - 5:00pm
Location: Saint Andrew Lutheran Church (504 W Bedford Euless Rd, Hurst, TX)
Total cost: $185
Registration and payment deadline: June 10
Please email winsteadvocalstudio@gmail.com and/or wolffpackmusicstudio@gmail.com with questions you have. I would love to answer them.
Hope to see your registration soon by our DEADLINE of JUNE 10!

Such accomplishments are the result of collaborative efforts between the community and the school.

We are so proud of these students still in the All-State process. (HUGE SHOUT OUT to Ryder Reeves, Alainna VanSkyhock, Peter Priddy, Kendall Pearce, Dante Sears, Gabriel Olguin, and Vivian Lasoi!) We know you’ve been working hard and are ready for a well-deserved break, but don’t forget these important items:
- Keep practicing
- Drink lots of water
- Turn in your sing-offs… even if they are late!
- Get lots of rest
- If you plan to drive to UTA, you must register your vehicle for a parking permit in advance! (Check your email for more details from Mrs. A)
- Lunch will be available on campus for students as no one is allowed to leave the audition site. The cost of the boxed lunch for all students is $10.00 (CASH ONLY/CORRECT CHANGE ONLY). This money will be collected from students at registration. If you choose to purchase this lunch, you must have your order in to Mrs. A no later than December 23, 2022. (Check your email!) If you choose not to purchase this lunch, you of course have the option of bringing a sack lunch with you. As a reminder, students are not allowed to leave campus, and parents may NOT bring or deliver lunch to them.
VOLUNTEER NEWS:
Lights all Night
The Orchestra has graciously invited us to join them in this fundraiser. You can have friends come and work with you and have their credits go towards your booster club fees.
Dear Parents,
Spectrum Events has given us a booth at the upcoming Lights All Night music festival in Dallas on Thursday, December 29 and Friday, December 30 from 3 pm – 3 am. We need lots of adult volunteers. All slots must be filled in order to keep our booth! There are multiple shifts to help accommodate all schedules. You are welcome to sign up for multiple shifts as long as they do not overlap. All volunteers must be over 21 years of age as we will be selling alcohol at the booth.
For more information about this event, please go to www.lightsallnight.com.
To volunteer for this event, please click the links below, or log into your Charms account and click “Volunteer”:
Thursday, December 29:
https://www.charmsoffice.com/charms/volunteerR.asp?s=LDBellHSO&v=5660923
Friday, December 30:
https://www.charmsoffice.com/charms/volunteerR.asp?s=LDBellHSO&v=5660945
For all Spectrum Events this year, volunteers will be earning 75% of all booth earnings after expenses, regardless of whether it came from commission or tips. The money will be placed in your student’s booster club account. While we are never sure how much our booth will make at events, working for Spectrum, and specifically Lights All Night, is a significant opportunity to make a lot of money in a very short amount of time toward your trip or other orchestra expenses.
All volunteers will need to obtain their TABC certificate, which costs between $7.95 and $9.99 online and lasts for 2 years. This certificate will need to be brought with you to the event. If you already received your TABC certificate last year, great! Just make sure you bring a copy when you check in. If you have not yet received your certificate, the booster club will reimburse the cost of the certificate by adding the cost back into your student’s booster club account, so please provide the receipt to Mrs. King for reimbursement.
Spectrum spots fill up very quickly so sign up as soon as you can!

Members of this organization perform regularly throughout the school year for parents and community members and are consistently recognized as “superior performers” at the state, national, and international levels. Additionally, Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD has been named to the list of Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation for 13 consecutive years. Such accomplishments are the result of collaborative efforts between the community and the school.
In a time when funding for arts education is increasingly limited, it is of the utmost importance to reach out to our stakeholders and community members to establish partnerships through which we might work to preserve quality educational opportunities for our 160+ students. We are asking you to join us in supporting music education for the choir students at LD Bell High School in the following ways:
- Donate a product or service for inclusion at our annual silent auction during our 2023 performances of SHOWTIME! – A musical revue featuring The Bell System and The Choirs of LD Bell on Friday February 3rd, and Saturday February 4th, 2023..
- Sponsor or place an ad within the Showtime! Program advertising your business or professional services. For detailed ad sponsorship information, please refer to the enclosed flyer. Questions? Contact The Choirs of LD Bell Directors, JoAnn Antinone (joannantinone@hebisd.edu), (817) 399-3230 x7386, or Carla Lindberg (carlalindberg@hebisd.edu), x7387.
Contributors to this event will receive:
- Two complimentary tickets to SHOWTIME! 2023 and
- Recognition in our concert program expressing to our audience our thanks for your support.
- Purchase of quality music literature and educational materials,
- Purchase and maintenance of required technical equipment and instruments,
- Funding of financial aid for vocal enrichment opportunities, and
- Funding of scholarships for college bound graduates.
Sincerely,
ShowTime Silent Auction Committee Co-Chairs,
Kay Pearce and Lori Alestock

These have all been uploaded to your online folder so everyone can practice at home. This is especially helpful for our awesome students not in this TRI who are preparing the music on their own. Thanks to these awesome leaders for this fantastic tool! It’s going to be a great Winter Concert!!

What an incredible weekend of beautiful music, hard work, and making new friends. Here are some things the students said about their time this weekend:
- I learned that even if you think you know a piece, you don't. There's always something you can add or learn. ~ Mason
- I loved our clinician - he grew up in the gospel church - he taught us a four-part song in an hour. He went to college with some of the composers, so he REALLY understood the music. Performing with the Orchestra was EPIC! The space was beautiful and sounded GREAT!
- I loved our clinician. The way he taught was cool. The warm-up was a way to gauge where the choir was at. He got all the dynamic marks out at the beginning. He was great at getting everyone on the same page. It was fun. I loved rehearsing with a WHOLE lot of people. ~ Nate
- I love how passionate our clinician was. You could really tell he wanted us to be the best we could be. I loved having SOOO many people singing my voice part. ~ Tommy
- I loved being surrounded by great singers who are serious about music making ~ Ali
- I loved singing with people who made this choir… the First and Second chair were seated right next to me. It was a humbling experience. I also loved seeing the people I knew from the Elementary Honor choir. ~ Anusha
- I really liked my clinician. ~ Alexa
- I love how it brought different schools together. Dr. Murdock's voice - when he was teaching the last song to us - it was so beautiful. We all sang as one and it made me feel like this is no longer a competition... "if one of us wins - then we all lose". ~ Demi
- Building friendships through the power of a shared musical experience.
- Total Praise - I was about to cry - I sang gospel at my church - one of the directors was crying which made it even more meaningful to me. ~ Demi
- It was cool to sing different styles of music in one concert. Learning how to sing as a full section, listening and being a part of a group made it awesome. ~ Faith
- I loved finding a personal connection to what we are singing - finding how you interpret a song.
- I figured out how to sing a sforzando. ~ Alainna
- It was so cool that the arranger of one of our pieces was our clinician. It was a Korean folk tune - the clinician told us what it meant to her. ~ Sami
